Rat update

i THINK it may be dead...............

Don't want to type too loudly in case it can hear me, but i've heard no scufflings since the poison was put down last night. Hopefully it is now one very dead rat/bird/hoover salesman. Although i would be very sorry if it was a birdy :(

Adrian tried his best (?) at comforting me last night by pointing out that it could be worse than a rat, it could be a bird with Bird Flu. Huh???? And then he changed track altogether and said it was a mouse, although it must have been a mouse with steel toecaps making that much noise.

And talking of Bird Flu; this country is going nuts over it. In every advert break there's a special government announcement about how we should all be stocking up on paracetamol, masks, handwash, tissues, antiseptic lotion, bottled water, and have 6 months worth of emergency food and supplies ready. I must say, i scare easily, and as Claire can testify, i went out and stocked up on everything but the food; Adrian thought i had gone bonkers stocking up th pantry with face masks and 6 packs of paracetamol! We've had goodness knows how many documentaries and special half hour news reports on Bird Flu, and if it's not that we've Civil Defence announcements on the radio about it - you can't escape it and it's not even happened yet!!! I guess it pays to be prepared but i think they're just trying to panic everyone at the minute.

The unbearably hot sun has given way to drizzle and thunder unfortunately. I had planned to take the girls out to this really cool marble place today - it's in the middle of the park over the road and it's a series of awesome marble tunnels that they can spend hours just dropping the marbles into and watching them. Sadly that will have to be abandoned and i think we will go and bake some playdough instead - it's a weekday thing only as it sends adrian up the wall picking up all the playdough bits from the carpet. Myself, i am blessed with awful eyesight and what i can't see doesn't bother me!
