Ants, cricket and cow poo

Another scorcher and the 3rd bottle of sunblock i've finished this summer alone! Few more mosquito bites to add to the already impressive collection and some serious hat hair - the perils of summer eh?

Today we had a lovely day in Cornwall Park in the city centre; it's a massive place with loads of huge trees perfect for a summers day, so we packed a picnic and tons of blankets and lay under a tree and read the weekend papers and watched the girls play - bliss! That was until the biggest colony of ants decided to join us; cue frantic packing up of picnic and much bashing of blankets. Honestly, i've seriously never seen that many ants, it was almost like given the chance and 5 more minutes, they would have picked up all the food and run off with it.

So we had a leisurely amble and ended up sitting under an antless tree with ice creams watching a cricket club playing, er, cricket! Having never watched a game of cricket before, i was pleasantly suprised to find myself rather enjoying it. My kind of game, lots of standing around and very considerately stopping play for lunch and afternoon tea.

Whilst adrian and i played at being civilsed, the girls had wandered over to some cows in a paddock and were kept greatly amused by their toileting habits. The once-peaceful game of cricket was now punctuated with giggles and squeals of "uuuurrgghhhh, that one's doing a huuuuuge poo!!" and " Look jenna, it's doing a GREEN poo!" Cue more raucous laughter and some filthy looks from bona fide civilsed cricket-watching types. Made me laugh though!

I'm so excited that the ticker says only 2 months til mum, dad and chris get here; i'm literally counting the days. we've lots of ideas of places to take you guys, and i promise that it won't rain for the entire visit this time!

And this to end tonight for Adrian's snoring so loud i can't hear myself think. I gave the girls toast for breakfast this morning as usual and i can hear Leah telling Jenna that honey comes from bees, and she goes into an explanation to her about bees and flowers - i was so impressed. Then Jenna asks Leah where peanut butter comes from - "oh that comes from a factory" !!!! Bless :) xxx
