Christening pics
Hi all, hope you're all well :) Christening was an absolutely fantabulous stress-free day, it was so enjoyable and everyone we invited came plus a few more, so there were about 50 people in our not-very-big lounge at one point because it rained! I was sooo impressed with my catering, if i don't (very modestly, ha ha ha!) say so myself! I reneged on the idea of a proper christening cake and made a Tiramisu gateau instead, which, although not without it's fair share of problems, was super impressive and actually looked like the picture in the book! We won't mention that with all the Mascarpone, Double cream and Kahlua it was probably near to 2000 calories per slice! But it did taste good and one of adrian's friends asked me if i had bought it from the Cheesecake factory - oooh my head is swelling all over again just writing it!!! I must say, i had started making the sponge on the friday night and it called for 2 Genoise sponges - no problem thinks she..........it was the most ridiculous process ever - it involved beating about 10 eggs in a bowl over simmering water for about 12 minutes. Well the egg more than doubled in size and went all over the stove top and when i actually cooked the sponge it didn't rise at all and was literally a slab of marble it was so hard. So i chucked it, went to bed and made a normal sponge in the morning which was much nicer.
We put up some borrowed Gazebos in the back garden and decorated them ,and it was just as well as it really rained hard, but it gave us a bit more room for all the people. It was just such a great day and i couldn't have done it without mum and dad and chris looking after the kids and looking after me; they are fantastic :) I am planning a passport-stealing operation tonight as they are out with some friends of theirs, Pat and Dave, in the city. I reeeeeeally don't want them to go home, it makes me sad just thinking about it :(
Well i'm off to cook dinner and watch American Idol with a large Malibu and coke (god i'm all class!!!!) so will leave you with some pics from sunday. Love you all xxxx
