Missing, Presumed Eaten....
We are missing a fishy. Presumed Eaten by a little friend of his who is now looking very fat. I've lost count of how many fish we've lost over the 2 years we've had our tank. We used to name them but then they kept dying or being eaten so it's easier not to! We do still have of our original fish left, a big fat angelfish that Leah had originally named Orran (after her good friend in Worthing) but he is such a horrible mean fish and he bullies and/or eats all the others that he doesn't deserve to be called Orran so his name has been revoked.
I'm sorry i've not updated for ages; we've been doing just absolutely nothing. We had a nice weekend in Rotorua with Adrian's parents and got to catch up with our friends that live down there. It was very nice travelling in the new car and actually getting to sit in the front seat - how grown up am i?!! Usually i am relegated to the back seat....but no more, yay!! We took full advantage of all the exciting features of the car; we treated ourselves to a coffee in Starbucks for the journey (and a treat it was, at $4.40 for a normal cappuccino each....that's $10 on coffee. On COFFEE!) to put in the fancy little drinks holder. We played with the cd player that doesn't jump when you go over a stone, heating and the air con ( no more shivering under blankets or getting windswept with the window open) I realise this is all very lame, but then we do get excited over small things like drinks holders in this house :)
I realised yesterday with some horror that my visa to re-enter NZ has expired about 6 months ago. It doesn't affect me staying here or my Permanent Resident status, but it does mean that were i to go home for anything, i wouldn't be allowed to board a plane for Auckland (hmmm, not being able to come back......is that a bad thing??!)
So anyway, i got all our passports out and had to laugh at our assortment of immigration statuses. At present there's no way we'd be able to go anywhere together as a family. Adrian holds an NZ passport and has Permanent Residence in the UK, so he's ok, he can come and go as he pleases. I could leave NZ but couldn't come back. Leah's UK passport has expired and her Returning Resident's Visa has expired, so she can't go anywhere or come back. Jenna holds a UK passport and Citizenship in NZ so she's fine, she can come and go as she pleases. And Heidi doesn't hold a passport at all and couldn't go anywhere.
So you see, this is my latest project, to sort everyone's immigration statuses out so were we to go to the UK we could do so without hassle. If i were to need to go in an emergency then i would have to go alone as it stands or pay squilllions of dollars to sort us all visas and passports out. I've a feeling it's going to cost squillions anyway, but it is one of those things i guess! And very complicated. Already i am dealing with the Auckland consulate, the High Commission in Wellington, the UK passport office and the NZ passport office!
Anyhoo, 2 more days of school holidays and back to normality, thank goodness. We're driving each other a bit bonkers i think, and i'm feeling so leathargic without my daily round walking trips to school. It may have something to do with the packs of biscuits i've been eating on auto-pilot too! Reading is dangerous for me; i get so caught up in a book that i don't notice how many i've eaten until i put the book down and i realise i'm staring at crumbs and an empty packet!
Sending love to you all, will write again soon :) xxxx

Hi JO!
We too had a fish death in the family this week.... the biggest mystery was that we had no idea where he was, after concluding that he had either jumped or been eaten, we found him trapped under the castle... oh dear!
Your immigration status is certainly interesting... Good luck with that one! I hope you do plan a visit home soon.... hint hint around christmas time would be wonderful!
Love Carey xx
