Happy Birthday Dad!
Sorry for being so neglectful this week....part laziness.....part Jenna changing the password to the internet connection!
Firstly and most importantly, Happy Birthday to my wonderful Dad, who i miss a lot and who constantly inspires me; he's my hero and i want to be just like him when i grow up :) Hope you had a great day Dad and you're feeling better....i love you lots xxxx
Soooo, where did i leave off? We had a lovely meal out last friday, i had marinated chargrilled lamb on brioche in a ragout sauce which was just heavenly, and tiramisu tart for afters, which just about finished me off - we were home at 9.30 because neither of us could bear to put another thing in our mouths!
The Food Show was a riot, especially with my mad brother and sisters in law. I don't think i've felt quite as sick as that for a long while though. We arrived at 11am and you're just bombarded with samples, so you're having a chilli and lime chocolate, followed by some carbonara pasta, then a kit kat, then a centimetre shot of wine, some Guinness, a hot chocolate, some blue cheese, another centimetre of wine, followed by another and another and perhaps another....soldier on and have a sausage, more blue cheese, some beer, more wine, more wine, more wine, more wine...............and that's just the first hour. We were there until 5.30. I did discover that i am quite partial to Guinness, and that perhaps that many different foods should not be mixed together. Lesson learned. Until next year of course.
Leah's still enjoying school, she completely blew me away this evening by saying the sign of the cross in Maori; i had no idea what she was saying and had to look it up just now; it goes something like this, and she said it word perfect.... Ki te Ingoa, o te Matua, o te Tamaite, o te Wairua Tapu. Amene. She really does amaze me sometimes.
I am still the school freak - a lady approached me the other day at school; i had never seen her before. In any case, she came up to me and said "ohhhhh, you're the lady who walks.....i see you every day!!" I considered asking her if she wanted my autograph, but just grinned instead.
Seriously. Even Adrian told me i wasn't normal for walking to school the other morning - he did phone up and apologise at morning tea but it really speaks volumes when even your own husband thinks you're a screw loose FOR WALKING!!!!!!! I'd like to clarify just in case i haven't explained before, that school is a ten minute - yes ten minutes, at most fifteen minutes, from our house.
*sigh*
Jenna really made me laugh at an inappropriate moment this week. We were at Mass and i had printed her a colouring sheet off the internet of Thomas the Tank Engine and the Fat Controller holding his pocket watch, to keep her quiet. Unfortunately being 3, some sounds aren't quite there just yet and in this case it was an all important 'L' that got left out. Spotting that the Fat Controller was holding his pocket watch, she bursts out "Mum, he's got a cock [clock!]......he's holding his cock in his hand, look!" Needless to say i didn't stop giggling for a while!
We also have some little unwelcome visitors home from school, the dreaded nits :( I phoned the Nit Advisory Line (aka Mum) to glean some Nit Wisdom, and i think we may have got all of them now, thank goodness, and thankfully Leah was the only one who got them. I do feel very psychologically itchy though.
Anyways, i've rambled on enough for one evening methinks. Adrian is away recording his new album so i am all alone trying to ignore the calls of the Luxury Coffee Ice cream in the freezer - it neeeeeeeds to be eaten, but then i will get in trouble when Adrian comes home and finds that i ate all the expensive icecream - what's a girl to do? I'm off to watch Memoirs of a Geisha on dvd now; it's one of my absolute favourite favourite books, i just love the imagery in it, and am intrigued to see if they do it justice on film. Ive heard mainly bad things about it.....we shall see. Love to you all if you're still awake at the end of this mammoth post!! xxxx
