accents
Have clearly lost all my English identity living over here. At the weekend i was asked by one person "what part of Ireland are you from?" and by another ..." how long have you been away from Australia?" Answers on a postcard please - i am aware, despite my best efforts to the contrary, that my accent is a mix of Wurrrvin' (Worthing!) and Nu Ziiilland, but do i really sound like an Irish Australian???
Another funny photo of Jenna for you ( she really is quite eccentric!). It was all quiet yesterday afternoon, which i mistook for a bit of peace and quiet. What in fact was going on, was that Jenna had found a box of Christmas decorations and was busy decorating the garden with tinsel, angels and baubles. I had to laugh.
Adrian and i applied for this job last night rather randomly. We hadn't any fixed plans to return to the UK but when we saw this job it sounded so good that we had to apply. Not holding out any great hopes that we will get it but it was worth a try! Will keep you posted.....
Jenna and i are making hallowe'en cookies today for something fun to do , and also because i am on a quest to use all of my 101 cookie cutters from Lakeland at least once!
Not much news today, i watched The Constant Gardener with Ralph Fiennes last night and it was fantastic, i thoroughly recommend it. (he he, just read that back - i didn't watch it WITH Ralph Fiennes, much to my dismay, he was in the movie - i watched it with Adrian, who eats all of his movie snacks really fast and then bugs me for some of mine, and then falls asleep and snores loudly through the rest of the movie. Think it would have been preferable to watch it WITH Ralph, i'm sure he's not a popcorn thief.)
Anyway, getting to the point where we actually had a video to take home was not easy as usual, as Adrian and i have such opposite tastes in movies that we rarely find one we both like, and trips to the video shop inevitably ends with one of us sulking.
For example, my favourite kinds of movie - Grease, Dirty Dancing, Moulin Rouge, Mrs Henderson Presents, Evita, Pride and Prejudice, anything with Colin Firth.....anything girly, light hearted and preferably with rousing singing and dancing numbers.
I do NOT like anything remotely scary, anything with Vampires, monsters, science fiction or Tom Cruise.
Adrian's favourite movies - Vampires especially; really scary movies, science fiction, things like Mission Impossible and other random things with Tom Cruise in, general things where people get blown up/eaten/ shot etc etc.
Adrian's pet hates - movies with any kind of singing or dancing, movies with Colin Firth, anything set in a high school especially if it also involves singing and dancing, anything with women bustling around in period dress.
You can see why we have problems! I think the only movie we both like is The World's Fastest Indian, which is also very good.
Anyways, i'm off now to practise talking properly, and get rid of my wierd anglo-kiwi-aussie-irish accent.
Love to all xxxx
