Stitches and training
Well, day 4 of training for the triathlon and all's well - i can run 1 whole kilometre without stopping and with no problems, woo! I no longer feel the need to vomit after running round the block! So, let me see, just have to add another 3km running to that, plus a km of swimming and 12km riding; yeah, that's 16km more i have to be able to do. Kinda wish i hadn't just added that up now, it seems quite intimidating!! But my resolve hasn't weakened, i've been going good so far and all the application forms came through today so i've got to get them sent off to keep me motivated and committed. I'm starting off slowly deliberately though - i don't want to suddenly go in there all guns blazing and exhaust myself so much that i can't keep up the pace.
I have had a little glitch - i went to the doctors yesterday to get my moles checked out - because of the ozone or lack of here in NZ, moles and skin cancer are a big deal, so i thought i'd just get a check up. All fine but i showed the doc a rather large mole on the inside of my thigh and she said "it looks fine, but hang on and i'll get some anaesthetic and a scalpel and we'll take that off now". So she did and it needed stitches it was so big! Then, no rest for the wicked, i had to hobble out and go to kindy and get Leah. So no training yesterday because of that, but i got right back into it tonight. I actually find it quite a nice way to unwind after a long day with the kids, and it's funny, i've not done PE for 9 years (i can't believe it's been that long since i left school!) and when i'm running i can still hear Mrs Biggs yelling "pace yourselves girls!" Laura - you can tell her she's still inspiring me 9 years later!
Onto other things - the christening is reaching epic proprtions; i think we've over 44 people coming *eek*. I've decided rather than put on a whole lunch or bbq as would be kiwi tradition, i'm going to do Nibbles and Bubbles, or put more simply, cake and alcohol for afternoon tea so that i can enjoy myself too and not be rushed off my feet on the actual day.
I've sent all my stuff in now for the massage course - i decided against reflexology at the last moment and went for Aromatherapy instead. I'm quite excited; the student loan covers an amount to spend on a massage table and linen and oils - i can't wait to get stuck in as it were. I only hope the old brain cell can cope with doing correspondence coursework. The most taxing things it has to deal with presently are things like - how many scoops of washing powder will remove red paint from childrens clothing? and If i put my washing on the line, how many minutes before it starts raining and i have to move the whole lot inside again? Or of course remembering what day rubbish day is, or probably the most taxing - what 3 x $18 is so i can pay kindy fees that i forgot for 3 weeks on the trot. Remmebering which child is which is also rather tricky, as is, on some particularly horrible days, what my own name is. The life of a Stay At Home Mother, eh?! I am intelligent, honestly! I can get a score of 400 at Scrabble!
Anyhoo, i'm looking forward to all these challenges i'm setting myself; it's about time i achieved something for myself and because i wanted to. By the end of this year, i will be at least, a triathlete and masseuse as well as forgetful, often grumpy and highly disorganised mother!
Anyway, adrian's at rehearsal again tonight so i'm going to make the most of being able to sleep like a starfish for a couple of hours at least :) Love to you all xxx
ps picture is us at the famous Marble Park - the black pipes are where they roll the marbles down - provides hours and hours of free entertainment for my girls and i love it!
