hungoverish again

Awwww, the school was so sweet! Leah knew a few of the kids in her class so she was pretty comfortable. Jenna sang the entire way through the headmistresses' welcome speech. I was trying my hardest to smile sweetly whilst hissing through clenched teeth at her to please shut up and stop showing me up, without giving the impression i was doing so, if you catch my drift. I am probably blackmarked as a disruptive mother already and we haven't even started yet! I did feel a bit emotional, i must say. I'm already dreading that first day and counting on Paddie and Sheryl to be waiting outside the school gates with a big bottle of gin for me to drink at 9am!

I forgot to say in my earlier post that i had a hangover by lunchtime yesterday! I was exhausted from a hard night with Heidi when i woke up so i made myself a coffee using Adrian's flash machine and thought i'd go for a double shot of espresso in my capuccino - whew! My eyes were on stalks for the rest of the morning! Then I went for morning tea at Sheryl's to meet a friend of our's 3 week old baby Emily - sooooo sweet! And so very tiny - you do forget how tiny and floppy they are so quickly. Anyway, we cracked open the bubbles at 10am and it went down alarmingly easy at that time of morning ( Champagne and biscuits - such a good combination!) , so much so that i was all stupid and giggly by the time i had to pick leah up at 12. And then a shocking espresso/champagne-induced headache by 2pm - that'll teach me for drinking straight after my cornflakes!!!

Old Tony ( as in Blair) arrives today for a day in NZ - my sister in law is part of his security team ( she is a policewoman in Auckland). Try as i might i can't think of anything exciting to add to that sentence so i'll leave you with that random useless bit of information.

Christening cake plans shelved for today as i worked out that 2kg of raisins and sultanas and other glace'd bits of fruit will cost the earth so i'll wait for payday - it's seriously like the same weight as a small baby in dried fruit! it MUST be healthy with that much fruit in it - i wonder how much i could eat to get my 5+ daily fruit portions? And marzipan (which i could eat by the block - again, my father's genes and influence, not my fault) is made up of almonds, which are good fats, so i'm pretty sure i'm on to a good low fat thing here! I must confess i think i ate most of my own wedding cake after it had been divvied out - nobody else likes fruit cake and it was so good to be able to EAT after months of starving myself to fit into my dress. i wonder how many brides can say they ate the majority of their wedding cake???!!! [not something to be proud of, joanne]

I have my first massage practical this weekend; bit nervous but relishing a challenge. Plus it will stop me from going completely bonkers with excitement as i do tend to get myself a wee bit worked up almost to the point of exhaustion. My parents used to not tell me that my birthday was coming up as i wouldn't sleep for ages beforehand with the anticipation - i missed my 5th birthday altogether as i fell asleep apparently and missed all the guests - how awful is that?! 20 years later and i still don't sleep before exciting things.....will i ever grow up??!

right, am off - nappies to change, washing to hang, lunches to make, blah blah blah.....domesticity is so much fun....... Here's my beautiful family - can't believe i haven't seen them in 18 months :( (ps - tis an old photo that Laura took for us before we left the UK - and the baby is Jenna. Hope you know how much we treasure these photos Laura - they're all round my house :)xxx
