Murphy's Law

Afternoon everyone. Today i am going to post about The Laws of Sickness in Families, based on my experiences of the last couple of days. It goes something like this....

DAY 1

Dad gets ill in a spectacular man-fashion. What he has is clearly the Worst Bug Ever. He writhes in agony and moans loudly. Dad goes to work in true Martyr style. Meanwhile Mum cleans up dried-on vomit from 3 bedcovers, the bathtub, the carpet and a wall where the children have also been sick, although of course not quite so spectacularly as Dad. No-one has the bug quite as bad as he does. By 9am Mum has done 3 loads of washing and been to the supermarket.

2 hours later Dad returns home from work and lies down on the sofa for the remainder of the day. Mum spends day cleaning up more vomit and meeting Dad's demands....

"could you pass me the remote?"
"could you get me some new batteries for the remote?"
"i need a blanket"
"could you make me spaghetti on toast?"
"could you make shepherd's pie for dinner?"
"would you run me a bath?"

Dad is cured by dinner time but conveniently falls asleep at bathtime and bedtime.

DAY 2

Somewhere in the last 24 hours the bug has been transmitted to Mum. Mum feels awful. Dad is fine and goes to work, although reminds Mum that she doesn't look anywhere near as sick as he was. Children are all fine, although starving from a day with no food and full of pent-up energy from being indoors all day. There is no-one to look after mum, who struggles valiantly on and takes children (plus sick bucket) to adventure playground. Mum also has to get everyone's bags packed and do shopping for looming camping trip tomorrow. Mum feels very sorry for herself although she feels a bit better now, just in time to get all her chores done and make some dinner. Mum just LOVES being a housewife.

ps Off camping tomorrow so if i don't write then i'll be back blogging in 2007 xx
