"There were rats, rats......"

Why does the weekend go quite so fast?? Back to work already *sigh*. I really can't wait for the day that I can tidy a room, go back to it in 10 minutes and be guaranteed that it is still tidy. Rather, i tidy somewhere and the kids seem to have some kind of internal switch that flicks onto Search For the Tidy Room and Destroy Everything In Sight mode.

And to add to that a husband with a habit of leaving sweaty socks NEXT TO the washing bin. All that effort to get to the washing bin, you'd have thought it wouldn't take much more energy to actually put the socks IN the basket? Evidently it expends a lot of energy for it is a daily gripe of mine. (his gripe is that i leave nearly finished cups of tea around everywhere - SOOOO not the same and not nearly as gross!!)

We went to the beach yesterday with Adrian's brother and his wife; the girls and i made a cool sandcastle whilst adrian went swimming. I am not brave enough to swim in the sea. Australia is not that far away and they have a lot of sharks, and i'm quite sure they'd make it to Auckland beaches if they wanted a change of scene. And knowing my luck it would be the one time i went swimming in the sea. I have been brave enough to progress to lakes, even though there is an abundance of fairly gross eels *MEGA ewwwwwwwwww*.

Onto more totally gross things - this one makes me really want to cry and/or move out (don't panic mum, i'm kidding, you don't have to scribble out my address again!). There is something nesting in the roof above the kitchen, and it makes such a big noise every evening, it really bangs around. I thought it was a bird until i noticed last night an ominous lack of tweeting and twittering, and Adrian calmy informs me that "it's probably a rat".

Like, eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!

I did NOT sleep well last night. And seriously, give me a whole nest of cockroaches any day over a big horrible rat. (Actually, give me neither, but you understand how much i don't want a rat in the roof) Mum, Dad, if you've changed your minds about coming over, i completely understand!! I have told Adrian to phone pest control - not sure if it's our problem (as such) or the landlords???

Anyhoo, time to get on with the week, i'll update with any rat news *sob* ! Will leave you with a slightly dishevelled photo of the girls just got back from the beach :)
