Wet buns and holey feet

8 days to go.....and my 'wheel alignment' got fixed yesterday. Except it wasn't wheel alignment, it was a buckled wheel. Oops. 2 new front wheels ( or possibly tyres, i am not sure!) later, and i am not my husband's favourite person.

Talking of the husband....... i received a frantic phonecall yesterday whilst i was at paddie's, asking me to please come home, as whilst putting up the gazebo in the garden, Adrian had trodden on a tent peg and it had gone straight through his foot, and there was blood everywhere. So, with visions of impaled feet, trying to remember how to bandage around impaled objects, i ran home ( why is the car in the garage when you need it most?!) , preparing myself for the massacre described. In actual fact, there was no blood to be seen, there was no tent peg through anyone's foot, although there was a newly-erected gazebo on the deck.

What HAD happened was that he had trodden on the short end of a tent peg and it had gone straight into his foot, which is no mean feat considering that they are not especially sharp. He does have a bit of a hole in his foot and can only hobble around. I phoned the nurse last night and she advised a tetanus shot and a trip to the docs to check for infection, but whether or not he goes is another matter.

I tried my first morsel of Samoan cuisine yesterday and I will not be repeating the experience. The food in question was a coconut bun, which sounds harmless enough; yummy even. In fact, it was a tray of bread rolls sitting in a layer of creamed coconut and cornflour. The bread rolls soak up the coconut gloop, essentially making wet bread rolls. It made me remember that wet bread is one of things i dislike most in this world.

bleurgh.
